The five schools of the Ruapehu Cluster are in the middle of the North Island
in an area known as the Central Plateau.
The green area in the middle of the picture is the Tongariro National Park,
an area well known to skiers and trampers.
This contains 3 mountains - Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro.
The river to the left is the Whanganui River. In the early pioneer days
of the country it was the main link from Wanganui to Taumarunui.
